Frequently Asked QuestionsI live in the suburbs. Can I still join?
Yes! Our chapter consists of women living in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, and we hold meetings in members' homes. Based on your preferences regarding location and meeting availability, you may also want to consider alumnae chapters in Evanston, Oak Park, or Rockford. I was not a member in college. Can I still join? Yes! Please reach out to us to ask about the process of becoming a Patroness Member. My life is already busy! What's the time commitment? Our chapter meetings typically occur once a month and each meeting lasts approximately two hours. We alternate meeting times between Saturday and Sunday afternoons and occasionally on a week-night evening to accommodate everyone's schedules. We understand if you cannot attend all meetings! I'm still paying off college loans. What are dues like? All alumnae members pay $35 in annual national dues, which can be paid independently through the SAI Shop on the national website. We also ask that members of the Chicago Alumnae Chapter pay an additional $40 in local dues, which we put toward our budget and philanthropy contribution. Local dues are waived for the first year. I have more questions. Who should I talk to? Please reach out to us with any other questions or comments. Send an email to [email protected] or complete the form on the "Contact Us" page. We'll be sure to follow up with you. |
Alumnae Chapter Affiliation ProcessStep 1: Contact Us and Join A Meeting
To learn more about the Chicago Alumnae Chapter, send an email to [email protected], complete the form on the "Contact Us" page, or stop by our Facebook page. We’re happy to answer your questions, and we encourage all interested women to join us for a meeting or social event before affiliating. You can also check out our Media & Newsletters page for photos, videos, and upcoming events! Step 2: Join the National Alumnae Association Prior to affiliating with our chapter, you first need to join the National Alumnae Association. Visit the SAI Shop on the national website. Our VP Membership will be able to assist you with any specific questions related to this step. Step 3: Affiliate with Our Chapter! Once you have successfully joined the national Alumnae Association, you are eligible to affiliate with any alumnae chapter. Our VP Membership will complete some internal forms on your behalf. Much like your initiation into SAI, there is a special ceremony commemorating your decision to affiliate with an alumnae chapter. A Note for Patroness Members All women interested in joining our chapter as a Patroness Member will be asked to complete a short training period, during which time we will introduce you our history, governance, and traditions. |
